Bar is a mill product form that is processed by forging or rolling and heat treated to ordered dimensions and required metallurgical and mechanical properties. Bars are rounds of less than 4" diameter and / or shaped cross section profiles (flats, squares, rectangles) of similar dimension.
A billet can also be many shapes including round, square, round cornered square, rectangle, octagon, etc. RTI's billets are typically forged in an open die press or GFM and are always thermal mechanically processed to the final ordered dimensions and required metallurgical and mechanical properties.
A near net shape made by using high force to push a pre-heated billet with through a die having the reverse shape of the intended output.
An "as cast" cylinder or slab that is intended for further processing into final mill products (blooms, billets, bars, plates and sheets).
Plates are smooth, flat, and of uniform thickness between 0.1875" and 4.00". RTI has the ability to produce master plates in both standard sizes and custom sized master plates of specific thickness, width and length. RTI also saw cuts and water jet cuts plates to custom sizes and profiles.
A smooth, flat product uniform thickness of less than 0.1875" produced in both standard and custom width and length. Sheet is also available as cut to size per customer request.
A flat product produced via cold rolling into coils. Titanium "strip" is typically available in CP titanium grades, but not most highly alloyed grades.
