RTI Capabilities: Hard Metal Extrusion

Hard Metal Extrusion

Hard Metal Extrusion is a hot metal working process in which round billets are forced under high pressure through specially designed dies to produce extruded hollows and near net shape profiles.

RTI has extensive in-house capabilities for producing near net shapes and hollows in both straight and contoured forms in a wide array of hard metals. Extruding is a hot metal working process in which cylindrical billets are forced under high pressure through specially designed dies to produce extruded hollows and complex profiles. Because extruding is a near net process, it reduces "buy-to-fly" material consumption and saves on the time needed to machine a finished part. Hence, not only reducing costly material needs, but also saving valuable spindle time.
