RTI International Metals, Inc. was founded in 1951 in Niles, Ohio. Originally named Mallory-Sharon Titanium Corporation, the company built its expertise and core competency around Titanium while expanding business opportunities and developing new capabilities. Over the last 57 years, RTI has grown to more than 1,700 employees in 20 locations worldwide and strives to be the Supplier of Choice for many major titanium applications.
2000
- RMI selected by BAE Systems to supply titanium components for a new lightweight Howitzer
- RMI awarded prestigious Boeing Q100 supplier award
- RMI acquires 100% of REAMET in Villette, France
- RTI Europe formed, German and Italian locations added to UK and French facilities
- George W. Bush elected as 43rd U.S. President
2001
- RTI Energy Systems order backlog exceeds $20 million
- RTI officials ring opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of RMI
- RTI adds 5,000-ton extrusion press in Houston, Texas
- Terrorists crash airliners into World Trade Center in New York City, Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
2002
- RTI enters new agreement with EADS of Europe for production of eurofighter Typhoon, Airbus family of commercial aircraft
- RTI Energy Systems wins $12 million contract for Unocal's West Seno project in Indonesia
2004
- RTI signs agreement to acquire Claro Precision, Inc. in Montreal, Quebec
- George W. Bush re-elected as U.S. President
2005
2006
- RTI signs agreements with Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Fuji Heavy Industries for supplying titanium structural components for Boeing 787
- RTI inks $800 million contract with Airbus to supply titanium products for its family of commercial aircraft
- RTI announces $35 million expansion initiative linked to new Boeing 787-related and Airbus contracts
2007
- Dawne S. Hickton named as Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
- $2 billion contract signed with Lockheed Martin for titanium components for F-35 joint strike fighter
- Additional $1.1 billion contract signed with Airbus
- RTI announces plans to build premium-grade titanium sponge facility in Hamilton, Mississippi
- RTI signs 10-year, $900 million contract with Boeing for production of the 787
- RTI posts record sales ($626.8 million) and record net income ($75.7 million)
2008
- RTI moves corporate headquarters to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
