The result? Unique opportunities arising from the many benefits of collaborating with RTI.
The world's toughest energy recovery challenges become opportunities, as RTI combines traditional steel materials with strategic uses of titanium to engineer products more robust in design, and more advanced in manufacturing technologies than available anywhere else. That is why RTI Energy Systems has been chosen by leaders in the oil and gas industries from all over the world.
Twenty years ago, RTI entered the energy market supplying titanium casing for geothermal power plants. Recognizing the importance of the energy market, RTI established a dedicated Energy Systems business unit and began development of new products and services using titanium. RTI soon supplied the world's first all titanium drilling riser and titanium drill pipe. That was just the beginning. Expanding with the industry into the deepwater market, RTI has over 70 titanium stress joints in service on deepwater riser systems, some in continuous operation for over 12 years. RTI's diversification into non-titanium energy products is well established by having over 250,000 feet of premium-grade steel top tensioned riser systems currently in service worldwide. RTI's unique combination of experience, talent and creativity is why the industry's leaders look to us.
RTI offers a range of products for deepwater SCR risers which tackle the extreme service requirements at the riser's hang-off and touchdown zones.
RTI has delivered over 250,000 feet of premium grade steel TTRs and is the only vertically integrated provider serving the deepwater market.
RTI has supplied over 70 TSJs during the last two decades with some in continuous deepwater service for more than 12 years. TSJs provide an affordable and reliable riser end termination, are used to hang SCRs from floating production facilities, and are also used to mitigate high bending loads at the top and bottom of TTR risers.
RTI has delivered over 50,000 feet of titanium geothermal casing with some systems in continuous service for more than 20 years. We are the leading vertically integrated producer serving the geothermal market. Previously supplied tubulars range in size from 9-5/5"up to 16"OD.
Higher strength, lighter weight, better flexibility and superior corrosion resistance make titanium an ideal material solution for downhole tubulars. Titanium is highly corrosion resistant making it an ideal competitor with traditional Nickel-based CRA alloys such as C-276.
Higher strength, lower weight, better flexibility and superior corrosion resistance make titanium an ideal solution for drilling in extreme environments. Whether for short radius drilling, extended reach drilling, or ultra-deep drilling our drill pipe is up to the challenge.
Almost 15 years ago, RTI provided the world's first all titanium drilling riser for the Heidrun platform in the North Sea. The riser is still in use and in excellent condition to this day. RTI also fabricates some of the most advanced steel drilling risers for a number the industry's OEMs and drilling contractors.
The deepwater market is quickly approaching water depths where conventional systems are incapable of performing completion, workover and intervention activity. Titanium offers a unique solution to this challenge and RTI is developing a next generation titanium connector for these systems.
