RTI International Metals is one of the world's largest producers of titanium. Through its various subsidiaries, RTI manufactures and distributes titanium and specialty metal mill products, extruded shapes, formed parts, and engineered systems for aerospace, industrial, defense, energy, chemical, and consumer applications for customers around the world.
The company has 1,750 employees across the Titanium, Fabrication, and
Distribution divisions and operates in 20 locations throughout the
United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia.
RTI strives to be the "Supplier of Choice" throughout the world for
high-end and diversified value-added titanium products and services
while maintaining strong financial, stringent safety, quality and
environmental standards.
RTI has been a major global
aerospace, defense, energy and medical industry supplier for over 50
years. We are involved in the supply chain from melting (Ti) through
machining and fabrication to distribution (multi-metals).
While some predicted a restrained 2007 compared to a red hot 2006, no
such slowdown occurred in the aerospace, defense, and energy markets
that RTI serves. Revenues in 2007 increased by 24 percent over 2006
levels and the company brought on more than $4 billion in new or
extended long-term agreements with Boeing, Airbus, and Lockheed Martin
in both commercial and military markets.
Titanium
and composite-intensive airframes, in conjunction with fuel-efficient
power plants, have taken flight with Boeing's 787 Dreamliner and
Airbus' A350 XWB. The long-recognized strength-to-weight ratio,
outstanding corrosion resistance, and inherent thermal compatibility
with aerospace composite materials of titanium make it the airframe material of
choice.
New titanium-intensive airframes are selling at record
rates. Each unit has higher percentages of titanium composition than
its legacy counterpart, helping to drive strong demand for near net
shape inputs such as RTI's hot-formed and extruded titanium product
offerings. RTI's titanium expertise, near net shape technologies and
state-of-the-art machining and finishing capabilities are well-aligned
to today's and tomorrow's demanding customer needs.
While new
commercial aerospace platforms took center stage in 2007, military aero
programs continued to be an important part of our business mix,
including the Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter), F/A-22 Raptor,
Eurofighter Typhoon, Rafale and A400M. In addition, 2007 was not only a
year for newer military programs as stalwart legacy platforms such as
the C-17, and venerable F-18, contributed to one of the most robust
aerospace markets in history. Not to be outdone by their
fixed-wing brethren, the V-22 Osprey and other rotary aircraft, including
related spares demand, also helped fuel the robust 2007 market.
The mission statement of RTI International Metals, Inc. is to deliver superior quality products, services, and solutions to our global customers on time, and in a manner that maximizes long-term shareholder value, while providing an environment that promotes safety, employee satisfaction, ethical conduct, continuous improvement, and corporate responsibility in the communities in which RTI operates.
